Antique Butterfly Wings- ceramic wall vase
This is a ceramic wall hanging vase/sculpture.
It is part of an ongoing solution to wanting my work to have a practical purpose in the home as well as artistic.
This piece is inspired by collections of antique butterfly’s one may see in a museum. Over time they tend to loose their vibrancy but are still delicate and beautiful. I wanted to contrast that sense of decaying over time with a baroque sensibility by adding the hints of gold creating a bit of grandeur and history to something so common as the wings of a butterfly.
This piece measures 8”x7”x2” and has a copper hanger on the back that easily hangs on a hook or nail.
